Scott Alan Davis

Scott Alan Davis is a native Detroiter who attended Detroit Public Schools and later went on and graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan with a degree in Communications Arts and Science.   Scott furthered his education studying Administrative Education which unveiled a new passion for training and teaching.  Scott also received nationally certifications from the National Training Institute as a trainer in Conflict Resolution, Diversity, Multiculturalism, and Facilitation.  Mr. Davis also received certification in real estate development for the National Development Institute.  Scott has also received several certifications from numerous trainings to strengthen his skills around community change.

His career has span throughout community development specifically focusing on holistic community development, planning, and capacity building.  Since 2000, Scott has worked for Vanguard Community Development Corporation.  Vanguard CDC is the non-profit development arm of Second Ebenezer Church.  Under Scott’s direction over 200 units of housing have been developed, 1700 people have found housing, and orchestrated several community events reaching over 20000 residents.  Scott has spoken nationally on holistic community development and served on dozens of community change groups.  In 2008 Scott was promoted to Executive Director of Vanguard CDC.

Scott Alan Davis currently resides in Detroit and travels nationally training and empowering ministries to be about community development or what he likes to call Kingdom Building Development.  Scott is president of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Senior High School Alumni Association, Chairperson of the North End Central Woodward Governance Committee initiated by the Skillman Foundation’s Good Neighborhood Initiative, he sits on the boards of the Storehouse of Hope, Architectural Savage Resource, Community Development Advocates of Detroit, and Center for Community Based Enterprise, Inc. Scott served on the Highland Park Cities of Promise North Pointe Task Force and work with the National Community Development Institute to strengthen communities color throughout the country among other committees and groups.

Mr. Davis is excited about the work that is before him and rests in knowing that change is always possible.  His passions are community engagement and social change that creates a positive shift in the economic structure for those in need. Scott has been blessed with the ability to reach people through housing and resource development.   He has a sprit of serving people and assisting in getting to solutions.  Scott also loves to connect people to resources and opportunities that currently exist or in assisting in creating new ones.  Scott Alan Davis also consults as an event planner, interior decorator, and capacity builder.  Scott has been awarded the 2009 News Radio WJR Detroit Future African American Leader Award, 2010 Second Ebenezer Church People’s Choice Impacting the World Award, Young Detroit Professionals 2010 Vanguard Award, and is a Leadership Detroit 32 Class Member.
