Sai Sinbondit

Designer & Artist

Panelist - 10:45am, Wednesday, April 6th – Upstarts! Upstarts! Positioning manufacturing and logistics for the Creative Economy

Sai Sinbondit is a designer and an artist.  Sai’s research and creative work explores the world and the dynamic relationships between people, cultures, environment, systems, technology and the registration of time.  Across these pursuits, he explores the idea that architecture and art are not political havens, not a world apart from the world but generators. By looking at the intimate relationships between people, cultures, and environment, Sai tests those ideas and relationships by framing them with architectural and artistic systems to determine if those systems has the potential to provide the infrastructures, means and strategies with the potential to be a generator of change in the fabric of society.

Sai received a Masters of Architecture from Syracuse University and graduated with honor in Painting and Printmaking from the University of Toledo’s Bachelor of Fine Art program.  He has spent time abroad traveling, living, working for and with various humanitarian relief organizations, researching and volunteering in various countries such as Turkey, El Salvador, Thailand, India, France, Italy and Sudan.  He has exhibited nationally in museums and galleries and has numerous works in private collections. Recently he was awarded the 2011 Creative Workforce Fellowship from the Community Partnership for Arts and Culture.  Currently, Sai is working as an architectural designer at a Cleveland base architectural firm, continuing his work and research with various NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) and as an Adjunct Professor for the Cleveland Institute of Art.
