Khalid el-Hakim founded the Black History 101 Mobile Museum twenty years ago while a student at Ferris State University.  Inspired by his former professor, Dr. David Pilgrim of the Jim Crow Museum, Khalid has acquired over 3000 diverse artifacts of Black memorabilia that date from slavery to Hip Hop culture.  For the past 12 years, this award-winning mobile museum has been featured at K-12 schools, festivals, conferences, colleges and universities across the nation.  This powerful and unique collection has caught the attention of many people including The Last Poets, Melvin Van Peeples, Fred Hampton, Jr., Afeni Shakur, the late Amie Ceasair, KRS-One, Professor Griff, Chuck D, X-Clan and others.

The Black History 101 Mobile Museum is currently on a six state tour that includes the campuses of the University on North Carolina, University of Wisconsin, Gonzaga University, East Tennessee State University and the University of Michigan.
